After a few years, Sylvia moved to Los Angeles and continued to record local LA bands. One of those bands, Green Jello (later re-named Green Jelly) attracted the attention of Zoo Records and went on to sell over one million albums. Soon after, Zoo asked Sylvia to produce the progressive rock group Tool for their label. Both the EP Opiate and the album Undertow that she produced have had multi-platinum sales success.
Since then, she has produced tracks for Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Skunk Anansie, Love & Rockets, and many others. She has recorded and/or mixed tunes for such diverse artists as Johnny Cash, Prince, R.E.M., Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, System Of A Down, and Smashing Pumpkins.
